New Doctor : We are very pleased to announce that Dr Lisa Seerathun, a graduate from Glasgow University has joined our practice after completing her GP training in Greenock. She will work 2 full days in our practice, Tuesdays and Thursdays. In this way she will contribute greatly to the care of our female patients who can now see a female GP or a practice nurse in the afternoons. We hope she will enjoy the work with us and you will welcome her.

Female GP Appointments : When you ask for a particular appointment with one of our female GPs the receptionists may ask you whether you require this appointment for a smear test or any other female examination. Please understand that the receptionists are bound to confidentiality and try to accommodate an appropriate appointment time for you. Certain examinations will take longer than the normally allocated 10 minutes. If you book a 10 min appointment for a female examination you may be asked to return for a longer appointment at a later time.

Podiatry Diabetes Clinic : The drop-in podiatry clinic for diabetic patients is changing from August. If you think you have developed a foot problem and need to see a podiatrist you now will need to phone the Podiatry appointment phone line at 01475 501 208. The receptionist will ask you a few questions and appoint you at a suitable time.

They offer brief psychological intervention either in form of group therapy or individual counselling sessions. Holiday travel :If you need any advice regarding travel vaccinations you can contact our practice nurse and she will be able to give to up-to-date advice. Please plan ahead as some vaccination take some weeks to protect you effectively.

NEW MENINGITIS ACWY Vaccination: As a result of a sudden increase in cases of     Meningitis W in the UK we have this new vaccination. Administration will be organised in 2 ways.

  1. Meningitis ACWY will replace Meningitis C  and given to all new University entrants under the age of 25 who have not already received Men ACWY in school. These patients need to contact the practice to organise the vaccination.
  2. There will be a catch up of all 14 – 18 year olds over one year 2015/16 starting 01.08.15  ( including pupils in S3). All these patients / pupils will receive a letter from the Health Board advising to make an appointment with the practice.

In July, 47 patients did not turn up for their pre-booked appointments and 9 patients did not attend their appointment booked on the same day!

These patients did not cancel their appointments and it means that a total of 56!!! of our patients had to wait unnecessarily for an appointment in July.

Please help us and give us your correct current contact details to keep us up-dated at all times.

Remember, you can read this information regularly up-dated on our practice website (  If you do not have internet access please ask our receptionists for a print out of the up-dated newsletter which will be published on a regular basis.

Best Wishes,

Dr Michael Kohlhagen and Partners
