  1. We are trying to update our register for carers. If you are a carer for a family member or friend etc please let us know about it. There may be some help or support for you as carer. Even if the person you care for does not wish any further help for him/ herself. You may well need some support. So, please let us know about your situation.
  2. The 2nd year of the Shingles immunisation starts on 01.09.14. If you are 70, 78 or 79 years old on 01.09.14 you are eligible to receive the immunisation. We know that shingles can leave you with significant pain for prolonged time. The immunisation is supposed to reduce the severity and time you experience the pain caused by shingles. Phone and book in with the practice nurse to receive the immunisation.
  3. If you are between 50 – 74 years of age a testing kit from the Bowel Screening Program from the Scottish Government was posted to you. This is a screening test to detect bowel cancer at an early stage. Sometimes people are afraid to do this test but if there is any bowel problem then it is better to catch it early. Please return the sample. If you need treatment it is much easier and more successful if we can see you before things become too serious. It’s better if you use the kit as per the instructions and return it for testing. If you need a new kit, phone 0800 0121 8333. If you want to ask or discuss anything then please call and mention this letter when you do.
  4. We recognise the difficulties patients have when phoning in the morning. If you do not phone for an appointment please phone later during the day. This will help greatly in freeing up the phone lines. We are in the process of installing a queuing phone system to make it easier when patients phone in the morning. I will keep you up-dated regarding this.

Please help us and give us your correct current contact details to keep us up-dated at all times.

Remember, you can read this information regularly up-dated on our practice website (www.drkohlhagenandpartners.gpsurgery.net). If you do not have internet access please our receptionists for a print out of the up-dated newsletter which will be published on a regular basis.

With Kind Regards to all our patients,
